IOM’s Digital Marketing Bootcamp Equips Moroccan Returnees for Economic Reintegration

Rabat - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) organized a 3-days bootcamp on digital marketing and the promotion of Revenue-Generating Activities on social media in Casablanca, Morocco the 22nd, 23rd and 24th June 2023, for 40 beneficiaries (30 men and 10 women) to help equip Moroccan returnees from Germany and women returnees from other countries with the necessary digital skills for their sustainable economic reintegration.

The bootcamp was designed to empower the beneficiaries to properly manage and grow their personal projects in today's dynamic market through offering an extensive curriculum, comprised of 13 engaging sessions incorporating both theoretical learning and practical workshops on topics like understanding digital marketing and establishing a digital presence and the fundamentals of social media platforms. The sessions were delivered under the supervision of Mrs Meryem Kassou and Mrs Kheira Bouazza, experts in digital marketing.

"We firmly believe that empowerment through education is one of the most effective ways to guarantee a sustainable reintegration” said Essemlali Ibtihaje, reintegration project assistant at IOM Morocco.

“The bootcamp has not just been about learning digital marketing techniques; it's about providing participants with the tools to harness the power of digital platforms for their economic betterment. We have witnessed firsthand the determination and dedication of the participants and are incredibly proud to witness their journey toward building successful, revenue-generating activities,” she added.

The bootcamp was held under the ARMA Project “support for the sustainable reintegration of Moroccans returning from Germany”, financed by the GIZ and implemented by IOM Morocco since October 2021.
Under the ARMA project, IOM Morocco had previously organised entrepreneurship and commercialization trainings for 55 Moroccan returnees from Germany. Of these, 46 have been granted in-kind economic reintegration assistance worth 4500 EUR to enable the implementation of their economic endeavors and were supported to formalize their businesses, in coordination with GIZ (Agency for International Cooperation) and ANAPEC (The National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Competencies).

The recent bootcamp signifies another milestone in the ongoing efforts to self-employment and the promotion of professional reintegration of Moroccan returnees.

This activity provided an invaluable opportunity to develop personalized strategies with expert support throughout the training, thereby bolstering their digital marketing strategies and enhancing the sustainable economic reintegration of the beneficiaries.

"The creativity and determination demonstrated by the participants throughout this bootcamp have exceeded our expectations, they demonstrated a great motivation to learn and to make their reintegration in Morocco a successful journey” said Echerki Khoukhani, reintegration case manager in the region of Béni Mellal-Khénifra.
