IOM MENA Regional Director and OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs Meets in Riyadh
(Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). The International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Mr Othman Belbeisi met with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs on 21 February 2023, on the sidelines of the third Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.
During the meeting, the importance of distinguished bilateral relations between the International Organization for Migration and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation was underscored within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties in 2003. Both IOM’s Regional Director for MENA and OIC’s Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs are committed to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the two parties in the near future.
“It was good meeting with Mr. Tariq Ali Bakheet, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs and his team during the 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.” said IOM MENA Regional Director, Mr Othman Belbeisi. “We look forward to our joint cooperation and the preparation for the meeting of our two principles.”
Ambassador Tarig praised the efforts made by the OIC General Secretariat and the International Organization for Migration to sign an action plan between the OIC Humanitarian Department and the regional office of the International Organization for Migration with the aim of developing bilateral cooperation between the two sides to serve the common goals of the two organisations.
