About Othman Belbeisi –

Mr Othman BELBEISI is the Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa, based in Cairo, Egypt.

Prior to this appointment in November 2022, Othman has been serving as the Senior Regional Adviser (SRA) for Middle East and North Africa within the Executive Office. Othman has been with IOM since 2003 and has previously served as the Chief of Mission in Libya. He has also worked for IOM Jordan, and as IOM Head of Office in Lebanon.

Throughout his nearly two-decade career with IOM, Othman has been deployed to various MENA countries on numerous assignments. He also served as emergency coordinator for the Syrian and the Libyan crises.

In addition to his duties as SRA MENA, Othman currently serves as Special Coordinator for Syria, leading and coordinating activities undertaken by IOM in Syria and neighbouring countries. In addition to this recent role, he has been serving as the IOM Director General's Special Envoy for Iraq since early 2022.

Othman holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and has completed various national and international professional training and qualifications.
