In its role as Coordinator of the UN Network on Migration, IOM is well-placed to guide the UN system in supporting governments to strengthen international migration governance capacities, in collaboration with civil society and key stakeholders.
Following the release of the UN Secretary-General's report on the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), IOM produced four issue briefs to support discussions on the recommendations of the report during Migration Week and in the lead-up to the inaugural International Migration Review Forum in May 2022.
The briefs draw on the extensive policy and operational experience IOM has built working around the world in close cooperation with states, partner agencies, civil society, the private sector, academia as well as migrants themselves, and present insights and ways forward to support implementation of the SG report recommendations.
