The conflict that broke out on 15 April 2023 between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Force (SAF) continues to have devastating consequences for millions of civilians in Sudan. 24.7 million people are estimated to need humanitarian assistance, and 1.8 million people are expected to be forcibly displaced inside the country, adding to the already 3.8 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 1.1 million refugees in Sudan prior to the conflict. A severe humanitarian crisis is also unfolding in neighbouring countries as people leave Sudan in search of safety and access to goods and services. Therefore, IOM launched its Response Overview for the Sudan Crisis and Neighbouring Countries requesting 209 million USD to contribute to addressing the humanitarian needs inside Sudan and the complexities of a mixed movements response that is inclusive of the needs of IDPs, migrant returnees, third country nationals (TCNs), host communities, refugees and Government entities responding to the crisis. IOM’s planned response is coordinated with Governments and humanitarian partners.
