Short background
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is organizing a Youth Forum on migration, environment, and climate change focusing on the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) from 30 – 31 July 2024 in Erbil, Iraq. The Forum will bring together youth representatives and key actors from the region to debate, share experiences, and propose tailored solutions to the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and disasters on migration across the MENA region. Call for Expression of Interest!
Building on the concept note below, IOM is inviting young people (18-35 years) who are nationals of any country in the MENA region only* and are familiar with human mobility in the context of climate change. Experience in climate action is strongly recommended.
Young people who are committed to raising the voices for climate migrants and disaster-displaced persons are invited to participate in the two-day workshop on 30 – 31 July 2024 in Erbil, Iraq. Moreover, the selected participants will engage in continuing to increase the visibility of human mobility and climate change nexus leading up to COY 19, COP 29, and beyond.
This Expression of Interest does not guarantee that applicants will be selected for this event. Applicants will be selected based on their knowledge, experience, and proven engagement with human mobility in the context of climate change and environmental degradation.
